SAPgui 7.50

La versione 7.50 è stata rilasciata da SAP ancora in maggio 2017; in questi giorni ho provato a installarla nel mio PC per tentare di risolvere un problema, a mio parere piuttosto grave, che riscontro da quando ho installato la 7.40:

tengo normalmente aperti 3 modi nel sistema di produzione e almeno 3 o 4 modi nel sistema di sviluppo: se chiudo un modo dopo poco tempo dal login tutto ok, ma se è passato un po' di tempo e chiudo una finestra della SAPgui mi si interrompono, senza nessun avviso, tutte le altre.

Davvero fastidioso e anche con il rischio di perdere dati se, su una finestra, non si è già salvato il lavoro.
Intanto è cambiato il logo della SAPgui:

Poi non ho risolto il problema delle chiusure incontrollate delle sessioni, ma questo temo sia un problema del mio PC poichè, su altri, non lo riscontro.

Infine mi sembra abbiano disabilitato la possibilità di memorizzare la password (giusto un paio di giorni fa ho scritto un post al riguardo!), o meglio il comportamento è vario:

se si avvia un collegamento precedentemente salvato in SAPlogon con password non viene riconosciuto e ne chiede l'inserimento

mentre i collegamenti con password salvati sul desktop funzionano ancora.

Se si trascina con il mouse il collegamento sul desktop nella cartella dei collegamenti in SAPlogon

lo shortcut funziona senza richiesta password anche lanciato da SAPlogon fintanto che non si chiude la finestra del SAPlogon, quando si chiude e riapre la finestra e poi si lancia nuovamente il collegamento viene richiesta la password.

Se si tenta di salvare un nuovo link non appare più il campo di inserimento password, anche se nel registry è presente la chiave che abilita la funzione:

Temo che SAP voglia disincentivare, se non togliere del tutto, questa feature.

I would like to stress again the SAP view on the “saving passwords in SAP Shortcuts” feature.

1) Using this feature is a security risk. In the interest of all users we strongly have to mention again that it should not be used. This holds true especially if users are not aware of the fact that an SAP Shortcut with full credentials in it can be used by anybody to log on with a foreign user account. Yes, you may say that you protect the files on your hard disk, but will all users do this (or will they even mail the shortcuts)? From SAP perspective this risk should not be ignored and therefore the administrators should NOT enable the feature.

2) There are better and more secure alternatives to the feature available (SSO solutions); if it is just about remembering passwords there are many programs available which store passwords in a safe way.

3) The password saving feature does not have a future anymore. With the introduction of SAP UI Landscape it has been removed and even though it is still working for saplogon.ini it is just a question of time until SAP GUI for Windows will no longer support saplogon.ini at all (before you ask: SAP GUI for Windows 7.50 will still support saplogon.ini). This feature will thus disappear.

4) SAP UI Landscape is already in release 7.40 mandatory for the combined usage of SAP GUI for Windows and the SAP Business Client. If you turn off SAP UI Landscape you cannot run this combination which adds a lot of value for end users.

My summary is therefore: Don’t use this feature!

Aggiornamento: ho trovato questo post dove, modificando la chiave di registry, torna abilitato il salvataggio delle password:

64 bit:
   [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\SAP\SAPLogon]

32 bit:
   [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SAP\SAPLogon]

change LandscapeFormatEnabled value to 0.
